Some Essential Tips for Shenzhen Tourists

When visiting the beautiful city of Shenzhen, you should prepare ahead of time. Plan out our days and make sure you bring everything with you. If you need some help, here are tips that can help you become better prepared for your Shenzhen trip:

Bring Your Renminbi- Renminbi

(RMB or CNY) is the official currency in Shenzhen, although Hong Kong Dollars (HKD) are also accepted. However, to be safe, just bring your Renminbi with you as some of the stores in the Luoho District prefer it. Be careful when exchanging your money in Shenzhen, there are many counterfeits Renminbi. Go to the bank for exchanging, don’t forget to bring your passport with you.

Know Your Taxis

The best way to go around the city is to ride the Shenzhen taxis. For taxis inside the special economic zone, the flag rate for the first 2km is CNY10. There is a 30% additional charge if you exceed 25km from 11pm to 6am. The charge for every kilometer is CNY2.4 and the drivers charge CNY0.8 for waiting per minute. There is a fuel sub-charge of CNY4 for every trip. On the other hand, taxis outside the special economic zone has a flag rate of CNY6 for the first 1.5km. with a 30% additional charge for exceeding 25km within 6am to 11pm. The fuel subcharge is CNY3.

Know Where to Go

Even if you’re in the city for a business trip, make time to visit the best tourist attractions like the Happy Valley theme park and the Window to the World. Depending on the season, do bring the appropriate clothes with you. Bring your most essential toiletries so you need not spend time going to the convenience store to buy them.
